The Role

Location: Hook Norton

Hours: Ideally, 32 hours per week (4 x 8-hour days). We're happy to consider other working patterns – just let us know your preference in your application.

Reports To: Management Accountant

We're excited to be expanding our accounts team with a brand-new Accounts Assistant position. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their finance journey — either with some experience or looking to take their first steps into an accounts role.

You'll be working closely with our friendly accounts team, assisting with day-to-day financial tasks, including purchase ledger processes, bank transactions, and general financial admin.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger Support:

  1. Process supplier invoices using Sage 50 in line with company procedures
  2. Ensure accurate coding, cost allocation, and VAT treatment
  3. Match invoices with purchase orders and approval documentation

Banking & Payments:

  1. Enter bank and credit card transactions accurately
  2. Support preparation of weekly/monthly payment runs

Supplier Records & Queries:

  1. Maintain accurate supplier information and records
  2. Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on discrepancies

Income Support:

  1. Record incoming BACS payments
  2. Take card payments over the phone as required

General Administration:

  1. Handle incoming calls and post
  2. Assist the wider accounts team with routine administrative tasks

What We're Looking For

  1. Ideally, 1 year's experience in a finance/admin/accounts role
  2. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  3. Familiarity with Sage 50 is a bonus (but not essential)
  4. Accurate data entry skills and strong attention to detail
  5. Organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively
  6. A team player with great communication skills
  7. Positive and adaptable – happy to learn and take on new challenges
