Veterinary Women In Leadership (VWIL), a collaborative initiative between Veterinary Woman and XLVets, will be presenting a panel discussion session at BVA Live focusing on women’s leadership journeys within the veterinary industry. The session will showcase three unique career stories – with opportunities for Q&A – to encourage and facilitate strong, healthy and successful leadership by providing a safe space for attendees to share aspirations, thoughts and opinions.
Andrew Wallace becomes the first RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Lameness

A first in the profession comes from within the community!
Buckingham Equine Vets’ director Andrew Wallace has been recognised by the RCVS as the first Advanced Practitioner in Equine Lameness.
Following five years of remote teaching, study, and a viva examination at the University of Liverpool he completed a certificate in Equine Lameness which subsequently allowed him to apply to the Royal College for Advanced Practitioner status.

XLVets community speaking at LVS 2021

Members of the XLVets community are out in force at London Vet Show 2021. Covering subjects as wide-ranging as sustainability to strangles and enjoying first opinion practice to farm emergencies. It is fantastic to have such a strong presence at this landmark event again this year. LVS also ties in perfectly with the communities lunchtime gatherings on 11th and 12th November, which provides members with the perfect opportunity to catch up, share ideas and celebrate the independent practices that form our organisation.
Buckingham Equine Vets Win Vet Practice of the Year 2021!

XLVets Equine member and independently owned Equine practice Buckingham Equine Vets, were announced as winners of The Equestrian Business Awards, Vet Practice of the Year 2021. Many of the team attended the gala evening in Nottingham for the black tie event, and we were delighted to bring back a trophy. The awards were started this year to recognise the hard work given by equestrian businesses throughout the UK, with 5,491 nominations for 2,300 businesses and professionals across the 14 categories.

XLVets event gives key insights on managing sheep lameness

XLVets, in association with MSD Animal Health, hosted an intriguing evening on Lameness in Sheep with an experienced panel and enthusiastic delegates. Over 20 attendees joined the discussion that allowed for an ‘ask anything’ approach on current thoughts and practices in preventing and treating lameness. A strong theme of engaging with clients and navigating the emotive aspect of lameness developed throughout the meeting with some useful and practical take-home tips emerging.

UK’s only beef and sheep exclusive practice takes on new partner

Black Sheep Farm Health, an independent farm practice in Northumberland, has appointed Kaz Strycharczyk as a new partner. Kaz, who graduated from Cambridge in 2017, joined the practice on its establishment in 2018 and has been with the team for every step of their journey. Over this time Black Sheep Farm Health has built up a strong reputation with local farmers as a dedicated independent practice and has become known as a proud member of the XLVets community.
