Can You Have It All? Yes, you really can.

At Hook Norton Vets, we believe in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting a healthy work-life balance. Our favourable 5-on/9-off rota gives you ample downtime to rest, recharge, or pursue personal passions—making it easier to enjoy life both in and out of work.

About Us

We're a well-established, proudly independent practice with a reputation for clinical excellence and a genuine community spirit. We've invested in a dedicated Night Team of vets and nurses—so that our high standards of care are maintained 24/7, not just during the day.

You'll be joining an experienced, supportive team that values professional growth, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to animal welfare.

The Role

Location: Hook Norton

Working Pattern: Permanent, 5 nights on / 9 nights off (6:45 pm – 7:15 am)

Reports To: Head of Nursing Services

Based at our Hook Norton Hospital, this role offers exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, including emergency and critical care. You'll be working in a well-equipped setting with:

  1. Species-specific dog and cat wards
  2. Dedicated isolation facilities
  3. Two surgical theatres
  4. Dental room with dental x-ray
  5. Diagnostic imaging and in-house lab suites
  6. ECG, multiparameter monitors, portable ultrasound, pulse oximeters, and more.

You'll work alongside our dedicated Night Vet, with support from a Nursing Assistant during the twilight portion of the shift. Crucially, there are no call-handling responsibilities—just patient updates as needed, allowing you to focus on nursing.

You'll play a key role in ward rounds and handovers, helping shape patient care plans and being treated as a true clinical partner.

What We're Looking For

  1. Qualified RVN with minimum 1 year UK experience
  2. Confident in intensive inpatient care, ideally in a GP or referral environment
  3. A calm, compassionate presence—even in high-pressure situations
  4. Team player with strong clinical skills and a hands-on attitude
  5. Excellent time management, initiative, and communication skills
  6. IT literate and quick to adapt to new systems.
  7. Full driving licence and own transport is essential due to our rural location

What's in It for You?

  1. Salary: £30,000–£32,600 for an average 31.25-hour working week
  2. 5.6 weeks holiday, increasing with the length of service
  3. RCVS registration fees paid
  4. Generous CPD allowance, with support for further qualifications
  5. Free health cash plan & annual flu vaccination
  6. Enhanced sick pay and family-friendly policies
  7. Full suite of wellbeing support, including an enhanced EAP
  8. Staff discount on veterinary services and products

Why Join Hook Norton Vets?

Because we're more than just a practice—we're a team that looks out for each other, celebrates growth, and prioritises exceptional care. We'll support your development, welcome your ideas, and ensure you feel valued every step of the way.
